Need to convert new 198 page book into ePub and Mobi formats. Book is available to you in InDesign CS3 or final PDF format. A sample chapter is available for viewing at [obscured] - click on the Sample Chapter link at the top to see the layout. It is a fairly simple book, only 2 images in the Appendix, the rest is all text.
Two questions - I as...sume this would include the cover conversion as well? The cover images are also available for viewing on our site, in the Media Room. Second, does the Index stay in the book or how does that work? Currently we have an 8 page Index.
Please respond with any questions, and/or a quote for this work. We may just do the ePub version now and wait for the Mobi, depending on cost.

We have a business school textbook (43,000 words, and 61 Figures) requiring layout for production as an eBook only - there will be no print edition. It is based on a texbook already published by Wiley (sample PDF attached, WIley permission granted). The book has been fully copy edited and is ready for layout, preferably in a style close to the Wile...y textbook - i.e. comfortably readable, 2-up on a 13" wide-screen laptop.
We would like the layout source file in Microsoft Publisher, unless compelling reasons to prefer another software such as Adobe InDesign. The text is available in a single Word DOCX file, and Figures are currently in Coreldraw version 12, with some Excel charts. There is a large number of hyperlinks that need to be active. The book will then be published as a PDF, and include a field on each page saying 'Licensed to [Licensee Name]' - our website will capture and embed this information for each copy sold. This field needs to be located so as to discourage attempts at plagiarism.
We are happy to answer further questions, but would like to see a few pages of what a possible layout might look like from the sample DOCX attached.
The project is not especially urgent, but reasonable promptness would be appreciated.

We have eight books available as PDFs and require them to be converted to Kindle format. For seven of them the only images in the book are the front cover, title page logo, and back cover images. One of them also has about a dozen images throughout the book.
We need someone to take the PDF and convert it to a format that will be perfect for Kind...le. We will upload the files to Amazon.

Kindle books ignore page numbering (because the reader can adjust fonts), so we expect the provider to know these best practices.
We would like to have this completed in the $300-500 range if possible. Please indicate the fixed price and estimated time to complete with your bid.

Hi. The goal of the job is to provide initial support for a design job. We have to create a 32 page doc. Regular 8.5 X 11 facing pages in Quark. The text is in word docs. The text has to be bought in quark and style sheets have to be created and applied for headline, text, photo captions, bold text, italics text, bold italics text, intended list et...c. The goal is to bring the content in Quark and just do a simple 3 column layout and apply style sheets, so our designer can just change the style sheets and move things around during the final design change. What require a firm that can create a book design for a book I will have coming out in hard copy. In addition, I require a firm that will be handle the conversion of the e-book to electronic download systems like Kindle, Ipod, etc.

What I need or require:
Someone with demonstrable Kindle formatting skills to convert our finished print products to Kindle versions. Must be able to work with English and Chinese text (not necessary to understand it, but know enough to see that it displays correctly)
What I already have versus what the provider will deliver:
I have finished... book projects. I have already tried using Amazon's DTP platform but the complexity of the layouts of our books and the fact that they are in dual languages means that instant conversion from MS Word RTFs or PDFs does not work.
I will supply you with the RTFs, PDFs and graphics and my expectation is that you will do not only the technical "translation" to Kindle on a literal page-by-page conversion but also offer advice on how to deal with complex graphics and sidebars.
Other context/requirements that providers will need to know:
The job is not simply converting the book on a one-to-one basis; it also involves consulting on how to include sidebars and which graphics to include / exclude.
Specific expertise/background that I am seeking:
Kindle experience; including resolving the presentation of complex layouts and strategies to deal with multi-lingual (single byte English and dual-byte Chinese) texts. I would like to see samples of your previous work and documented testimony from your previous clients on your ability to deliver on the job. I also expect that you will be able to give me a firm time estimate on the job in advance and come within 10% of the original estimate.
My preference is to pay in USD via PayPal but other forms of payment are possible.
Timeframe for delivery:
I would like the first project to be completed before Dec 31, 2009. I have 12 books to convert. I will start with offering one book to an elancer and if you are successful I would offer you the remaining projects.
