I'm looking for a highly skilled designer to produce a number of ebooks for Kindle, iBooks and Google eReaders that look great across all three platforms.

Indesign is not a must. I'm open to whatever program you may want to use, though Smashwords (or similar) is not an option I'm interested in.

Books include:

1. Civil Disobedience by Henry David... Thoreau (need cover) - 10,000 words
2. Apology by Plato (need cover) - 11,000 words
3. Gandhi - How to 'be the change' - 34,000 words
4. Ideas that Influenced Gandhi - 178,000 words
(a) Apology by Plato (translated) - 10k words
(b) Unto This Last by John Ruskin - 30k words
(c) Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau (translated) - 10k words
(d) The Kingdom of God is Within You by Leo Tolstoy - 128,000 words

Two of the books (1 and 2) also need a cover (the other two have been done already). Covers will need to follow a template that has been designed by another designer (though I'm always open to suggestions).

The books must include:

~ hyperlinks where relevant
~ email subscription box that links with my website (where indicated in each book)
~ ability for users to share the ebook via Facebook and Twitter (where indicated in each book)
~ contents sheet that link to appropriate pages/sections (books 3 and 4)
~ images
~ attractive and consistent chapter headers, sub-headers, formatting
~ footnotes

Books across the entire range need to be consistent. This will be the first range of books released in a series over the next couple of years so there will be an opportunity for ongoing work for the right person/team.

We have project that will require taking an indesign file and make it an interactive file that will be used by sales reps on their iPads. Not sure if I'm looking for an app developer or someone who uses iBook software. The final project will act like a mini website that lives on an iPad... more like an interactive pdf.

Project #1/ Hardcover book:
As mentioned in a previous email, I never quite got around to following up on the attached hardcover copy of the proof that I received after your team uploaded the hard copy version of the HTS ebook to Amazon a few months ago. I had to refocus my energies on another project. For clarity sake, I've bulleted... the requested changes below.

*The image attached is a scanned copy of the actual hard copy book proof that I received in the mail. You'll see from the image that there is a white border around the actual image. I'd like to set up the hardcover version so that the white image is removed and that the image itself takes up all of the available cover space in the same way that it is viewed in the kindle/nook ebook version.

*In addition, I noticed that the images labeled "Employee Problem Solving Formula" on pages 42 and 50 of the hard cover version looks distorted which I hadn't noticed before. The image on both pages are oval shaped and it should be circular, similar to the very same image found on page 37 of the hardcover version of the book. Could you please adjust these images so that the images are circular and not oval.

*Lastly, the hard copy book proof did not have the back cover that was designed for the ebook as part of the last project. I'd like to take are of all of these items please.

Howdy, guys!

I am interested in having y'all convert a version of the attached manuscript to Kindle, ePub (Nook, iBookstore), and PDF for me. The last would be using the template we worked out for PDFs last time.

The attached file version is pre-final. I need to add the copyright page and About the Author, but I can do that by tomorrow. I think t...he attached version should be enough to get the bid (though if it is not, please let me know).

There are a couple of notes about this ebbok:

1) It contains a single illustration (a graph).

2) Toward the end there are a number of appendices that are basically long lists. We may want to use extra columns for these in the PDF version so that we do't waste horizontal space. (I assume single-column is the best format, even for long lists, with Kindle and ePub).

3) As before, I've put two ISBNs, which can be listed in *both* the mobi and epub versions. The pdf does not need any ISBN listed.

I *think* those are the only special notes.

I'm also attaching a cover illustration in jpg. I also have the original psd file if it would help.

We are a small company that predominantly produces school yearbooks.

Currently we are looking into the possibility of outsourcing the layout of our books up to first proof stage. Each year, we roughly produce 40 yearbooks during October and November, with the majority of the books being around 96 pages.

After coming across your profile on this w...ebsite I thought I would write to find out if we meet each others criteria.

What we are after for each book:
1) Layout of book – This is to be based upon the design of a few pages. We would expect the rest of book to have the general look and styles of these pages but you will have to use your own initiative with the actual placing of the images and text.
2) 1st page layout only – no text corrections, print ready PDFs, image correction etc

What we would give you:
1) An InDesign file with a few pages designed and laid out. This would also include all style sheets needed for text formatting.
2) A plan of which articles and images go on each page
3) A directory containing all articles and images
4) Fonts

How we would expect the project to work once terms had been established:
We would send all the files to you (text, images, InDesign file, page plan, project notes etc)
First milestone – Layout of 10 pages and sent back to us to check. We would comment on any changes that may need to be made to the layout. You to make any changes and resend the first 10 pages. Payment released.
Second milestone – Layout of half the pages and sent to us to check. We would comment on any changes that may need to be made. You would make any changes and resend the affected pages. Payment released.
Third milestone – Layout of whole book sent to us to check. We would comment on any changes that may need to be made. You would make these changes. Payment released.
Final Milestone – All files returned to us. All fonts and files deleted from your computer. Final payment released.

I have attached a low-res PDF with some sample pages of a variety of our yearbooks for you to see the level of quality that we would expect and give you an idea of what is involved.

I would be grateful if you could let me know if:
1) If you are interested and could do what we are after
2) A estimate of how long it would take you (As a guideline it would usually take an in-house designer 45 hour to do a 96 page book)
3) How many books you could do during October and November

I've just completed what I like to call a "mini" ebook. It's 27 pages. I'll be selling it via Amazon and Barnes and Nobles. I'd like to have my current Word document converted into a .mobi/epub document.

Because this is more of a long article than a book, I've formatted the first page a little differently, (I included the TOC on o...ne page and linked the TOC via the bookmark feature on Word). This is a very simple ebook with no images.

Could you please give me an estimate on the cost of converting this book to Kindle and Nook as well as an estimated time that you might be able to complete the project?

I think that I also recalled that you make ecovers. I'm actually shopping around for a cover for this ebook. Could you please send me some samples of your work? I won't be making the ecover the first page of this ebook so I can move forward with the conversion piece. I'll just need the cover for the sales pages on both Amazon and Nook.

I'd appreciate learning the cost of making an ebook cover also.

I finished writing a book for the Kindle and have it saved in html format. It previews properly and reads fine. I also have the cover designed. I need the following finishing touches done to it: 1) Create a toc.html file for the table of contents. The table of contents is in the book and works when you click on the chapter links but the Kindle read...er needs the external one also. There are 13 chapters and 3 appendices. 2) Create an NCX file to describe the structure of the book. 3) Reference the cover image so that it appears at the start of the book when the book is read. 4) Update the OPF file so it all works together. These files should all be in a format that can be directly uploaded to Amazon.coms KDP. Amazon's documentation on how to upload all this is somewhat sketchy.

I can provide you with the book in html format, the cover design in jpg format and the OPF file from Amazon.com that came when I downloaded the book. I think that's all that needs to be done but in case any other tweaks are necessary I might need your assitance. Thank you for submitting to this job.

We have our book full layout almost complete, and have already had feedback from one editor for almost the entire book, but we need your quality assurance - oversight/final eyes – edit proofing for file that we are sending to a China Manufacturer.
This job will start in 3 weeks, and we will only have a one week window frame to complete. We... need your expertise to work directly with us and our channel partner in China who is working with the manufacturer to ensure our work is excellent, with no errors, and that our files are perfect prior to print. This might require pages added, etc. and some formatting, but probably not much.
The main part of this job is overseeing our Typesetting/Formatting/Page Layout

Howdy!

I am interested in hiring your firm to do an ebook conversion for me. The conversion should be quite simple.

I already have the text and the cover image (see attached files). Here is what I'm looking for:

1) An epub version that can be uploaded to and will work for Barnes & Noble and Apple's iBookstore (via Lulu.com). If the iBookstore ha...s different requirements than the Nook, there might need to be two versions of the file.

2) A mobi version that will work on Kindles.

3) A pdf version that will look attractive and print well. Since pdfs can look better than epubs and mobis, I would like to have the text for this one put in a nice, professional looking template (it does *not* have to be unique to me; I'm just looking for a decent template). I also am not sure about the page size for this version. I'm hoping it will look good on screen, on ereaders, and when printed. We will probably need to discuss the pdf version briefly before making it (so you can let me know what you think the page size should be and so I can see a template before the text is flowed in).

I prefer working on a fixed rate basis and am happy to use Elance escrow for the funds.

This job should be very simple.

If this conversion works well, it is likely to lead to a substantial number of re-hires, as I plan on producing a line of similar ebooks, so there is good potential for repeat business.

I have a speech class book that probably isn't a great candidate for the Kindle, but I wanted to explore what the conversion cost would be. The print version is 8.5 by 11 and I know that the current format would look very odd on a Kindle. I'm not sure what could be done.

Per my recent email and instructions - Conversion of word file to epub and mobi-Kindle File with five Jpeg files inserted at the proper locations.

This is a three part job for four ePub e-books for an author. They require tweaking code within the ePub files themselves, something which is beyond my skill level-I'm a book designer hired by the author, not a programmer.

Part I: One ePub is showing two errors. They are defined as Entity 'shy' not defined. I need these errors to be fixed.

Part... II: Two of the ePub e-books were rejected by iTunes Producer for having several errors within the code. I need these errors to be fixed. (I can send you the error messages, if you need more information.) These ePubs were accepted by Amazon, however.

(Side note: I have two more books to submit to ITP in the near future and suspect this may be an issue for them as well. These will need to be fixed.)

Part III: Three of the ePubs e-books need to be combined into one giant ePub e-book. I think this can be easily done within Calibre, but again, it's beyond my skill level.

This is an hourly job, since there's several parts to it. The books were designed in InDesign 5.5; I suspect the errors were created within the conversion, but I don't want to import the e-books into 6.0 since it will throw off my book design.
